In the summer of 2024, Junior wrestler Gunnar Williams and the Portland Wrestling Club ran a successful summer wrestling camp. At the conclusion of camp, Gunnar donated everything he'd earned toward starting a grant program for Portland wrestlers who need financial help for camps, clubs and tournaments. This thoughtful donation sparked discussion amongst our youth wrestling club board to move towards formalizing a booster program to support our K-12 wrestlers.
The Portland Wrestling Booster program will allow the wrestling club to work with donors to create a fund that will be used to support wrestlers at all levels in our community. The fund will be administered separate from the club funds and be available for families and for our Middle and High School teams to cover costs like team camps, club fees, and equipment costs.
Donations can be made via our Clover app, or check made out to Portland Wrestling Club.
The Portland Wrestling Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit association. Organizations described in section 501(c)(3), other than testing for public safety organizations, are eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions in accordance with Code section 170.
According to district data, about 20% of our families will experience a financial need. Using this information and applying it to the anticipated costs of wrestling in our community, our Boosters Advisory Committee has set a fundraising goal of $7,000 for our 2024-2025 fiscal year. Our goals were set based on the following amounts of anticipated need in our community.

50 3 rd – 5th grade wrestlers at an average registration of $135 ($1,350)
